Real Madrid thrashed Al Hilal 4-1 in the first leg of their King's Cup semi-final clash at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday night. The match was played in front of a capacity crowd of 55,000 fans.
The match started with Karim Benzema scoring his 2nd goal for the season in just over 3 weeks after his brace against Osasuna. He opened the scoring after only 8 minutes of play. The Frenchman then scored again from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 for Real Madrid in the 46th minute. He completed his hat-trick two minutes later when he headed home a cross from Lucas Vazquez to make it 3-0 for the hosts.
Al Hilal tried hard but were unable to find any way back into the game and ended up losing 4-1. Benzema now has scored 7 goals in 7 games this season since returning from injury,Premier League Frontline which is impressive considering he had been out for almost three months.
Real Madrid will travel to Saudi Arabia next week to face Al Hilal in the second leg of the semi-finals. If they win that game, they will progress to the final and take on either Al Nassr or Al Wahda. A win here would be huge for Real Madrid and could see them go all the way to the title.
